Initial Thoughts

This is a quick video I took from the game Metro 2033 (if it uploads) which has a scene where there is a childrens playground that is completely empty and derelict which has a very eerie and unsettledness. And some screen shots as the video isn't the best quality and may not work.
-In the video you walk through the park and it flashes back to what it was before for a few seconds then goes back to the apocalyptic Moscow-
Empty cities in general have a very eerie and uncanny appeal and that is amplified more so when its apocalyptic and partly destroyed.
Metro 2033 is basically set in the future in apocalyptic Moscow, where the humans are forced to survive in the metro tunnels underground as the city above has fallen into ruin and has been over run by mutated creatures.

There is also the Silent Hill franchise with the classic thick fog which holds a very eerie and unwelcoming presence just by the fact you cannot tell what is out there.

And some various photos of very thick fog.

Also the film 28 days later has some classic scenes of London which is completely empty.

I intend to go down the path of looking at completely empty cities and places where its would usually be friendly buzzing with energy to be empty like childrens play parks and fairgrounds.

Uncanny valley

The Uncanny valley is a theory used in the area of robotics and 3D animation, which is when a human replica looks and acts almost but not identically the same as a real human being. This is when the observers starts to have a repulsiveness for the replica in question and becomes less desirable.

Maya Trouble

So, i have started to mirror all the geometry following the tutorial videos. When i started the tutorials I had border edges on (by default), however half way through I switched them off with help from Tom. Now, I cannot merge together the edges of the mirrored piece of geometry in the UV Texture Editor. It seems it will not work where the border edges are.

- Red arrows indicate where it has merged successfully (no border edges)
- Blue arrows indicate where the edges will not merge (border edges are present)

I don't know but it appears that the border edges are stopping the edges from merging together which means I cannot move on with the rest of the videos. Is it possible to delete border edges I can't find out how to. This is very annoying as its the 3rd from last video.

Maya progress

Four Videos left to go, sorry i haven't finished it. I lost a save and got put back from part eleven to part eight but I'm just starting part eleven now so will be finished soon.
